Ten years ago, in the land of Centernia, a deadly mage feud left Castle Aurumice trapped under a sinister energy field. The young woman’s quest sends her across dimensions to Earth, where she deceives her cousin, Jessica Vance Ravenwolfe, a high school freshman with enough problems of her own. Unwillingly, Jessica is thrown into the wild and beautiful world of Centernia, forced to help her strange cousins. The human girl becomes intertwined with the lives of the enigmatic castlefolk and their mysterious fire mage leader.

With the knowledge of earth at her fingertips, Jessi has been tasked with repairing the castle’s wiring, a frayed, patchwork system from the bygone days before electricity was forbidden.
Jessi has taken over this task from the fire mage who had kept the lights on before, Nicoveren Aristo Verdian. But Nico has been jailed by the Trabalis government for his family’s debts, and he is now suffering in the torturous Mines of Briken, his powers mysteriously gone. As Nico’s friends struggle to pay his debt, an unexpected savior buys his freedom. Hope turns to horror as he finds himself trapped in an even worse fate.

Jessica’s choice has caused a ripple across Castle Aurumice. Nicoveren Verdian has fallen in love with the woman from earth, but he cannot join her and abandon his responsibilities to the castle. Nico’s dreams are plagued by the cries of Jessica’s lost cousin, trapped in an arcane magic Nico cannot breach. Meanwhile, the forbidden mage Zia Casimirio threatens the castlefolk, and echoes of the past begin to sever the entire Ravenwolfe family.
